The beleaguered censored Internet surfers around the world are fed up in being denied access to international websites like – Facebook – Google – YouTube – Twitter and more. They are wised up to government Internet censorship in the likes of – Thailand – PRC – Iran – Iraq – Afghanistan – Thailand – Burma – Syria – Egypt and so many more countries around the world who are regulated by often quango Governments whose remit is to censor the Internet to prevent people from finding out with what is really going on in regimes where the iron fist is the first line of defense used by corrupt politicians whose aim is to stay in power using whatever it takes to achieve that.

But with frustration comes intelligence and improvisation and where there is a will there is a way to beat internet censorship and now masses of bright Internet surfers in Asia and the Middle East are using  AnchorFree to access blocked websites like Facebook – Google – YouTube – Twitter et al.

Two Tier Internet is an online news company but if we can release content that helps people around the world, then so be it that is exactly what our remit will be!

Iran Internet Censorship is Pure Propaganda

Tehran

Iran

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

After years of reports and speculation that the Internet is set for a blackout in Iran the Iranian Government have responded with an official line from Iran’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology that says – quote – “The report is in no way confirmed by the ministry and is completely baseless  nothing more than the propaganda wing of the West”

But facts are facts and often access to BBC – Facebook – Google et  al is 100 percent blocked or accessible to a few privileged Internet users only.

The main bone of contention emanating from the ruling regime is that they want to prevent Iranian nationals resident in Iran from having access to foreign content and news media and the like, but they appear to be limited over what they can block and what they cannot block. The main reasons being that the Iranian Internet users have a work around way of gaining access to blocked sites by using proxies TOR, SSH tunnelling and virtual private networks.

Internet Society of China wades into the Censorship Battle

Beijing

China

PRC

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Wading into the wave after wave of Internet censorship battles in the PRC comes a newcomer into the foray — The Internet Society of China – which according to reports is a non government setup, indicating how deep searching the censorship battle is in China. For years now the government have been hitting the public with censorship limitations which has now overflowed into the private sector with new organizations prepared to pick up the censorship mantle and openly support the government in ensuring that the PRC will have the most divisive two tier internet system in the world.

The new censorship combatants had no need to join in the censorship cull, but like anyone in the know will tell you that when you back the Chinese Government that means you score ‘Browning Points’ which are invaluable if any company or organization has aspirations to do business in the booming Chinese Internet market without any ‘Big Brother’ interference.

The appearance of — The Internet Society of China – comes after a spate of warnings and website shut down on sites who were publishing unauthorized reports about unsubstantiated plans of a coup to topple the ruling communist apparatus. Some of the major websites subjected to temporary closure included Tencent and Sina

Xinhua also report – quote – ‘That over 1,000 people have now been arrested as part of the online crack down and over 200,000 ‘harmful’ messages deleted.’

Now Here Comes CISPA

New York City

USA

Just when we thought SOPA and PIPA were on the back burner, all be it on maybe only a temporary basis. But no such luck the inept US politicians have trumped up a new bill using the highly unimaginative acronym CISPA – The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011  - which is yet one more intrusion preventing the rights of people being able to use the Internet on an open and transparent basis.

One annoying trait (they have so many) that is often found in politicians is that they are obstinate for example when they saw the American public turning against SOPA –  PIPA and the like – they quickly brought out another bill – same old restrictions – but just boxed up in a new livery that the elected member hope would dupe USA into accepting. But folks are not so gullible these days and they cannot be hoodwinked and tricked every which way, like they could in the past when in the pre Internet era – lots of information never surfaced into the public realm so many laws and regulations got passed as the public were often misled and misinformed which gave the US politicians the chance to simply ride rough shod over everyone and implement any old restriction or law without any redress and/or accountability

This new ‘Kid on the Block’ – CISPA – The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 – can expected to be savaged by the media and all the objectors that will be getting fired up to ensure that one more controlling and shackling bill is sent packing!

Watch Out – Because Now Here Comes CISPA…

Yahoo Patent Claims Against Facebook Could Delay IPO

Sunnyvale

The news grabbing Facebook IPO could be delayed as Yahoo is threatening to sue Facebook. The dispute revolves around Facebook taking out Internet patent licensing agreements on the services provided by Yahoo that the burgeoning Internet social network uses to operate it’s online business model.

Yahoo appear to have elevated the timing of this dispute to ensure they get a result as the action has surfaced just at the time when Facebook go with the IPO – Initial Public Offering of stock. Any delays in settling this dispute very quickly could effectively unhinge the Facebook IPO. That unlikely event would no doubt lose billions of dollars in expected investor revenue.

Yahoo are old stagers at this game having successfully claimed as similar case against Google in 2004 when the big G paid out hundreds of millions of dollars from a patent settlement prior to the Google IPO.

When one buys a new car, millions select cars that are designed and manufactured by proven car makers. As we all know that means that most of the highways – freeways and roads are populated by leading car brands like – Ford – Toyota – Mercedes Benz – Jaguar right up the models lineage to luxury motoring from the likes of – Rolls Royce – Bentley et al.

Given that a high percentage of the world’s people are creatures of habit means that when on the lookout for internet censorship blocking software, they will look to see what data blocking tools are being used in China – Iran – Syria – Iraq and the like!

These countries and a few more are the territories that are creating developing and fine tuning on live test beds the most advanced and sophisticated digital data blocking tools that are being used around the world today!

To independent observers it looks that some countries are even in an artificial competition mode – saying look what we can do re blocking websites in Iraq – to find that the next news is – In China we can blacklist websites just as effectively as they do in say Iran. It will be interesting to see what is next downstream in the world of Internet Censorship.

Mikhail Prokhorov is a billionaire – Politician and now the mother of all achievements an Internet Rapper! The mind boggles at the opportunities that open up for one with money – of course no one would ever suggest or even infer that Rapper stardom was bought with money! Of course not everyone who is a star on the Internet must be blessed with a natural talent, money does not come into the equation.

Or so we are led to believe in the case of Mikhail Prokhorov New Jersey Nets basketball team owner in partnership with US rapper Jay-Z. Mr Prokhorov seems to have grabbed the microphone at a public event and broke out in song, and surprise surprise somehow the video got on YouTube and was a viral sensation in Russia.

Critics say that the Rapper video was super poor but Mikhail Prokhorov has a fortune of $18 billion in the bank so one has to assume that if no one likes his Rapper video, will he care!

Iran Halal Intranet Delayed until late May early June

Iran is waiting for the mother of all websites blocker – ‘Halal Intranet’ –  the French guillotine style internet censorship that is about to cut off the Iranian internet users and deny access to many top international websites including but not limited to – Facebook – Twitter – Google – Wikipedia –  and a host more sites of global stature and influence.

But how successful will the isolated Iranian Government be in implementing the ‘Halal Intranet’ they may have an initial success with blocking but hackers are already busy at work creating digital tools and networks that they will launch in waves to attempt to unblock any censored Internet gateways.

The launch of the dreaded ‘Halal Intranet’ according to an Iranian Government spokesman will be late May early June 2012. The release has already been delayed as was first scheduled for release February 2012, the Government reasons for any delay can be ignored as they only thrive and exist in a closed world of propaganda and hype. Many techies and geeks are of the opinion that technical problems re implementation are the real reasons for the delay.

Hence this gives more time for digital data unblockers to roll out ready and waiting to hit back as soon as the Internet Censorship curtain descends on Iran

2012 Two Tier Internet Gathers Pace

London

England

Monday, March 12, 2012

Almost two months into 2012 and divisions deepen on the WWW – World Wide Web – Internet and whether we like it or not   ‘Two Tier Internet’ is no longer a maybe or a what if – the reality is that the global digital networks are split asunder into at least two divisions and in many countries multiple layers of censored levels of access.

So what does this mean for the ‘Average Joe’ who uses the internet bearing in mind that we are referring to the masses in the billions of user’s. Here is what it means in say Thailand as an example the Thai Government are in the midst of a massive internet censorship program and the upshot is that on completion Thailand will be a set in stone ‘Two Tier Internet’ system where the government have segregated the Internet into two levels but and here is the dichotomy the public will only be able to access the areas that have been censored and declared as suitable to be viewed. Suffice to say of course only the Thai Government will have full access to all the WWW.

Other governments on the same track as Thailand are to name a few China – Iran – Iraq – Syria – Burma et al the list is almost endless. Hence what does the future hold well based on what has happened to date so rapidly in 2012 the picture going forward is not very rosy, and more of the same Internet Censorship is on the agenda for many dictatorial governments and regimes.

But all is not lost because there is a strong mobile and highly skilled source of engineers – hackers and geeks who are working away creating and developing digital tools and systems that will unlock and  free censored digital banks – networks and any other data content locked data storage areas.

Summary

In basic terms it is as usual the old chestnut that governments want to control and dictate while the reality is that the billions who are not encased in a bureaucratic organization want the opposite they want freedom and freedom of choice!

Who are the Chong Hua Educational Foundation?

Background Profile

  • They have no website
  • The board of directors are unknown
  • They have no known address
  • Plus many more unanswered questions like are they just a front for the Chinese Government

Yet the facts are laid bare the Chong Hua Educational Foundation’ had agreed to send a £3.7m donation to Cambridge University to sponsor a chair of Chinese Development studies at the university’s prestigious Department of Politics and International studies.

But now surprise the story has been censored in mainland China and all the relative stories have been removed from a host of websites on the WWW – World Wide Web – Internet. So what is going on was this an attempt by the Chinese Government to use ‘Chong Hua Educational Foundation’ as a covert front so the Chinese could have their own self appointed Professor working at Cambridge University in a position where they would be able to influence both policy and/or political bias and opinion.

Comments from Cambridge University – quote – “In just one night, all discussions and articles about this event on the big Chinese websites – that carried the story –  have been ‘cleaned’.”

Once again Internet Censorship is at the very center of all the action relating to the mysterious ‘Chong Hua Educational Foundation’
